CAAAS AUDIT SERVICES Director Profile

Ian Barfoot has extensive knowledge, skills and expertise in audits and reviews of not-for-profit entities and the audit of alliance styled infrastructure projects.  Ian has forged open and honest relationships with clients in a professional manner expected by clients, regulators (ASIC, OFT, OLGR) and the accounting bodies (ICAA, CPA).

His previous position, before establishing CAAAS Audit Services,  was as Partner of a Gold Coast based specialist audit firm. Ian’s responsibilities included financial management of the practice and clients requiring statutory audits in the areas of not-for-profit entities, trust accounts and alliance audits.

Ian is a ‘Company Auditor’ registered by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and understands the requirements of Boards having completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) ‘Diploma’ and the Governance Institute of Australia, (formerly known as the Chartered Secretaries Australia), ‘Certificate in Corporate Governance’.  Ian’s formal qualifications are a Bachelor of Business and a Master of Professional Accounting.  He is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma of Applied Risk Management and Corporate Governance with the Governance Institute of Australia.

Having provided services to clients and customers for an extended period of time, Ian is fully aware of the needs and demands that statutory audits and reviews impose upon an entity.  Therefore, Ian has implemented a system that reduces this imposition so that the client can prepare for the audit or review prior to the auditor attending the premises to conduct the audit/review.  This preparation improves the efficiency of the audit/review allowing scheduled time-frames to be met.

On a personal basis Ian is, and has been, actively involved in a number of volunteer organisations for the past twenty years.  He is currently an Independent Advisor to the Audit, Finance and Compliance Committee for Surf Life Saving Queensland.  Ian has held other positions including Honorary President of the AFL Gold Coast Juniors Inc,  Honorary President and Honorary Treasurer for The Beenleigh & District Historical Society, and Honorary Treasurer with Volunteering Gold Coast Inc .  Being on the other side of the audit process, these positions allow him to fully understand the roles of volunteers during an audit.
